Weight loss history\update
Almost a year ago I started my weight loss journey. I made the decision to go for a gastric sleeve procedure.
My highest weight in my entire life was around 432 lbs, before I started getting the surgery I weighed 416 lbs.
When looking to get the surgery I was told by my surgeon I was morbidly obese, no shocker there but what did surprise me was I also (unknown to me) diabetic and had extreme high blood pressure!
I was asked to lose 10 lbs in a month and change my diet and habits, I came back losing 15 lbs.
I was again asked to lose another 10 lbs, it wasn't easy (gave up soda, and haven't looked back!) but I lost another 13 lbs and was dedicated in my choice.
Before my surgery I had lost over 36 lbs on my own, and was told by others "You're doing great, see you don't need the surgery..." but I knew myself and would just get comfortable and gain it all back.
I know that some of my weight was due to what I ate, but most of my weight was gained due I didn't know when to say when...
I was your, eat 3 hamburgers, 4 hotdogs, potato salad, a 2 liter of diet Mountain Dew at a BBQ, then get home an hour later and order a large pizza and eat 90% of it myself.
I chose to do the surgery for myself, to use it as a tool, knowing it would give me the help I need to get my weight under control.
My mind is CONSTANTLY trying to get me back to where I was (that feeling of "oh just a little more can't hurt"), but I now see it with a better understanding on how to stop myself before going back there.
So far since I have started I have lost 160 lbs (416 lbs to 256 lbs), the whole experience has had its easy and hard times, and it was worth it 1000%!
One of the BEST feelings to come out of this is how much more energy I have in my day!
I have taken up running and biking, can swim and dive easier, and can run around with my 8 & 4 year old without getting tired or run out of breath!
I know I made the best decision by taking the surgery path to help my weight loss, it will keep me around a lot longer for my family in the future and I could care less to anyone who says I cheated and took the easy way out, there is NO easy way.
Surgery or no surgery weight loss is the same, surgery is a tool, if you don't use it the right way you'll end up right back where you started, it's up to you on what you do with it!
