I posted a while back about having vascular surgery done (having bad varicose veins removed)..

Here is my results..

The removal was covered under my insurance, as my primary said it was medically needed to stop a possible blood clot.

I also had surface bleeders (thin skin over them, they broke on me three times, looked like a murder crime scene as blood pumped out of my leg like a water sprinkler when it happened).

It hurt to do them but i am SO glad I did it!

I don't want to scare anyone away from it but just don't want to sugar coat it either..

He did numb the area then they make an incision and then put a catheter up the vein and then heat the tip to collapse the vein close as they pull the catheter out.

Now again when they numb it you only feel a slight burning sensation (more when the area is not treated but the guy I went to was GREAT at listening to me if I thought it was too much).

The main thing that hurt (in my opinion) was when he had to treat the smaller, closer to the surface, veins.

For that he used Novocain, and had to inject it into each one separately as it makes them shrivel up, this burned quite a bit for each one (and I had over 30 on one leg) but it only lasts 5-10 seconds on each one then they are numb :) Again, it was well worth it.. :)

If you get the right doctor he will help you through it. T

he overall pain after the procedure felt like my legs were bruised for a few days (I could walk and get around with minimal pain and I didn't take any pain meds but was offered them).

Even after a month I still feel tender in some spots but my leg not only looks better but they also FEEL 1000 times better now (lower legs are not bloated anymore)!!!!
